Kahana Itozaki landed the largest fish, an ulua that weighed 53 pounds 4.8 ounces, to win the men’s division at the Department of P&R’s 17th annual Ohana Shoreline Fishing tournament, held Aug. 16-18 that featured more than 400 keiki and adults. Following are results:

Vulcan Athletic Hall of Fame inducting trio
Former volleyball All-American Sweetie Lindsey Osorio, former major league pitcher Tyler Yates and longtime booster Bob Lamson will be inducted into the 2013 University of Hawaii at Hilo Vulcan Athletic Hall of Fame on Aug. 28 at Nani Mau Gardens.

— Osorio was a four-year player for the Vulcans (1977-80) and was an All-American in 1979 as the Vulcans won their first national championship.
— Yates played with UHH from 1996-98, then became the first Vulcans baseball alum to reach the major leagues. Drafted in the 23rd round by the Oakland Athletics, Yates played for the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates, finishing with a 12-17 record in 239 games.
— A driving force behind the Vulcan Athletic Booster Club, Lamson will be inducted posthumously. In 1990, he guided the first of many scholarship fundraising efforts. Lamson also served as interim tennis coach and interim vice chancellor of student affairs.
Paradise Roller Girls back in action Saturday at Civic
The Paradise Roller Girls’ Honey Badger all-star team will take on the Hulagans from Oahu’s Pacific Roller Derby at 7 p.m. Saturday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

Paradise Roller Girls is a women’s flat-track roller derby league based in Hilo.
According to former PRG skater Alane “Hot” Cole, while modern roller derby has retained the costumes and flamboyant skater pseudonyms, under the glitz and glitter are skaters who are dedicated athletes who put in long hours training and conditioning,
“We want to educate people new to the sport on what today’s modern roller derby is and how different it is from the 80’s entertainment that is stuck in so many people’s heads,” she said. “When you mention roller derby, folks invariably mention elbows to the face and catfights on skates and ask if that is what PRG is about. That is not the case at all; flat-track Roller Derby is a sport first and foremost.”
Mac Nut Tournament at Hamakua C.C.
The Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company and Hamakua Country Club are hosting the third annual Mac Nut Tournament, with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to a release, the “fun-for-all event brings golfers of all skill levels together in a quest for prizes by using a latex coated macadamia nut instead of the traditional golf ball.”
The scoring will be based on a Callaway system. The entry fee is $40 per player, which includes lunch and prizes.
