Keaau High School is currently holding the following conditioning sessions for fall sports. All current and incoming students are encouraged to participate:
• Cheerleading: Wednesday-Friday, starting July 10, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
• Football: 2-5 p.m. at the field.
• Volleyball: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. 1-3:30 p.m. at gym.
• Basketball: Monday and Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. at gym.
• Soccer: Contact coach Richard Handy at 895-4005 for more information.
• Cross Country: Contact office for details.
All interested students wanting to participate must have a completed physical on file with the athletic office prior to starting. For more information, contact the athletic office at 982-4220, ext. 2229.
Pahoa seeking girls basketball coach
The Pahoa High School athletic department is looking for a girls varsity head basketball coach. Duties include teaching/coaching of basketball techniques, and character development.
According to athletic director Rom Tomosada, preferable qualifications are previous coaching experience, National Federation of State High School fundamentals of coaching certification and effective communication.
Applications are available at the school’s main office or athletic office. The deadline to apply is July 15.

Three coaching spots open at Konawaena
Konawaena High needs cross-country, track and field and cheerleading coaches for the upcoming seasons.

King’s Swim July 6 at Kailua Bay
Kona Aquatics will host its 19th annual King’s Swim at 8 a.m. July 6 at Kailua Bay.
The 1.2-mile course begins at Kailua Bay and ends at Kamakahonu Bay, directly in front of King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
Event organizers will not allow fins or wetsuits. Applications are available at Bike Works (74-5583 Luhia St.) in Kailua-Kona. A non-refundable entry fee of $15 must accompany the application.
The Registration deadline is June 29, and late registration takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at Kailua Pier on race day.
The late registration fee is $20.
