BIIF volleyball: Kamehameha clinches state berth
Kamehameha easily handled Hilo on Wednesday night at Kawananakoa gym in Keaukaha, winning 25-13, 25-16, 25-8 to clinch an automatic berth to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association volleyball tournament.
After completing an unbeaten Big Island Interscholastic Federation regular season, the Warriors (11-0) take on Kealakehe on April 25 at the Waveriders’ gym in the league’s Division I semifinals. The Vikings (8-2) finish their regular season Friday at home against Hawaii Prep, then take on Waiakea (10-1) in the semifinals.
In Division II, Ka Makani (6-4) moved into a first-place tie with Honokaa by sweeping Kohala 25-19, 25-16, 25-23 in Kapaau on Wednesday night. The Dragons close the regular season with a match against Ka’u (5-5) in Pahala. An outright regular season champion will earn a berth to states.
Pahoa (4-6) can lock down the final berth in the BIIF semifinals when it hosts the Cowboys (3-7) on Saturday.
