Konawaena clocks Kealakehe at baseball tournament
Evyn Yamaguchi doubled twice and drove in four runs Thursday as Konawaena beat Kealakehe 12-1 at the Cougar Invitational Tournament in Kealakekua.
The Wildcats collected 14 hits on the opening day of the preseason baseball tournament. Royce Torres-Torioka was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and scored three runs, and Kelsy Katayama was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.
Zane Gray struck out a batter and didn’t allow a run in three innings to get the victory.
Hawaii Prep 9, Keaau 2: Ryan Jarvill struck out five batters in five innings to pitch Ka Makani to victory,
Ian Rice, Ryan Fujioka and Kana’i Gaughen all had doubles for HPA, and Kalan Camero added a run-scoring single.
Rason Martines was 2 for 4 for the Cougars. Justin Quesada took the loss, striking out three in three innings.
