Geologists with Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said the slow-moving flow was tapped out as of Monday, following the start of new activity at Pu‘u ‘O‘o last Friday. It reached 5.5 miles.
Lava activity continues near the crater, creating a shield on its flank.
