At 6:35 p.m. Thursday, Kona Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 83-5300 block of Hawaii Belt Road (Highway 11) in Honaunau.
At a house rented by several tenants, police found a 52-year-old resident with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The man was taken by ambulance to Kona Community Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.
