Cody Urasaki scattered six hits and struck out 10 to lead the Waiakea Pirates to a 4-1 win over the Keaukaha Warriors in Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League play on Sunday at Wong Stadium.
The Keaukaha Warriors claimed the first-round title with a 5-1 record.
The right-handed Urasaki, a 2004 Waiakea High graduate, shut out the Warriors through the first six innings before giving up a run in the seventh. Urasaki (2-0) then posted goose eggs over the final two innings to cap the impressive performance.
Urasaki didn’t walk a batter while picking up the win. Warriors reliever Aaron Correa (2-1) took the loss, allowing all four Pirate runs in four innings. Cortney Arruda started for the Pirates and hurled four shutout innings before giving way to Correa, a former UH-Hilo standout.
The Pirates (3-2) only managed six hits, but they were able to plate three runs in the eighth inning to give Urasaki all the run support he needed.
Warren Shikuma had a double and two runs batted in for the Pirates. Kiley Kawazoe, who played collegiately at Hawaii Pacific University, had two hits for the Warriors and scored a run.

Legends 11, Corsairs 1: Kean Wong and Korin Medeiros each ripped three hits and drove in two runs to spark a 14-hit attack as Keaukaha (3-2) beat the Corsairs (0-6).
Kian Kurokawa, Kodi Medeiros and Randall Iha had two hits apiece, with Kurokawa and Ryan Torres-Torioka each driving in two runs.
Kodi Medeiros started for the Legends and hurled three innings. He gave up one hit and a run while striking out four. Kurokawa (1-0) went two scoreless innings and got the win. Reyn Kihara took over in the fifth and finished with two shutout innings.
Corsairs starter Nicholas Fukunaga (0-1) pitched four innings and took the loss. He allowed six hits and four runs. Reliever Tyler Hirokawa took over in the fourth and went two innings, giving up five hits and six runs. Teammate Robbie Meguro pitched the final 11/3 innings, allowing three hits and a run.
The second round starts Sunday at Wong with the Warriors battling the Corsairs at 10 a.m., and the Pirates vs. Legends at 1 p.m.
