Police issued an alert for a man in a white Jeep Wrangler with a brown hard top following a reported robbery Thursday afternoon in Kona.

Shortly before 1 p.m., a man police describe as a “local male with a dark complexion” entered the Keauhou Store in Holualoa and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

He was described as being in his mid-20s to mid-30s, 150 to 170 pounds, unshaven and with “kinky dark hair.” He was wearing blue jeans and a green T-shirt, slippers and a white cap with a dark brim.

A cashier received minor injuries in the robbery, but she declined medical treatment.

The suspect fled north on Highway 180 in his Jeep, which had a spare tire in the rear and a winch in the front.

Police advise members of the public who see this person to call 911 or the nonemergency number at 935-3311.
