Laurette Marion Edwards, 101, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 11. Born in Dunsmuir, Calif., she worked for Lincoln Insurance and was a member of the Christian Science Church. Private services. Makena Kennedy, infant, of Laupahoehoe was born and died Jan. 1 at Hilo Medical Center. Friends may call 9 a.m. Jan. 21 at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home; service at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Kukuihaele County Cemetery. Survived by parents, William Kennedy III and Monica Boland of Laupahoehoe; grandparents, Benjamin Boland of Valencia, Calif., Maureen Kelly of Waimea, William Kennedy Jr. of Honokaa, Valerie Dillon of Portland, Ore.; sister, Monique Kennedy of Laupahoehoe. Yukiko Miyamoto, 96, of Keaau died Jan. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kapapala, Hawaii, she was a homemaker. Private services. No koden, no flowers. Survived by sons, Larry (Grace) Miyamoto of San Jose, Calif., Randy (Christine) Miyamoto of Hilo; daughter, Grace Kagami of Honolulu; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. John Panek, 73, of Hilo, formerly of Amityville, N.Y., died Jan. 7 in New York state. He was a union leader and past President of Elwood Teachers Alliance. Memorial services were held Jan. 13 in New York; Hilo services pending. Memorial donations suggested to the Palermo Fire Department, Palermo, ME 04354, or to the Hilo Habitat for Humanity, 700 Manono St., Hilo, HI 96720. Survived by wife, Jane Panek of Hilo; daughter, Maria (John) O’Rourke of East Quogue N.Y.; son, Mark (Noriko) Panek of Hilo; brother-in-law, Kevin (Margaret) Dineen of Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren.


Simeon Crawford is survived by, among others, his sister, Winifred (Arthur) Gonsalves of Kohala. An obituary published Friday included incorrect information submitted by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.
