Alliance partners include NFL players and other professional athletes, nonprofit organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the U.S. military, veterans groups and armed forces auxiliaries including the VFW, educators and parents groups, various foundations, funds and corporations.

Free SAT and ACT PowerPrep Software is now available for Big Island high school students, courtesy of eKnowledge, along with 20 NFL and MLB athletes. In a nationwide sponsorship alliance program begun in 2005, the coalition donates software valued at $200 to Hawaii high schools and their students.

Since its start, the program has distributed more than 168,000 copies of the software. The sponsorship was initially created to help students impacted by the military and those actually serving in the armed forces.

“However, the recent involvement of professional athletes has opened the sponsorship program to all local students during the 2011-12 school years,” said a spokesman for the alliance.
