Police say the body of a man was found Tuesday morning at a lower Puna beach park.

Shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday, a county lifeguard reported finding the partially submerged body near the shoreline in the vicinity of Isaac Hale Beach Park in Pohoiki. Police say the unidentified man appeared to be in his 50s.

A written police statement did not indicate the condition of the body or how long the man had been dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning to determine the exact cause of death and to assist in identification.
