Sandra Susan Barnes, 61, of Hilo died Jan. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a former bookkeeper. Visitation 6-9 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Survived by daughter, Germaine (James) Murphy of Hilo; son, Adam (Michelle) Harrison of Hawi; brother, Raymond (Jean) Asuncion of Simi Valley, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Jane Ann Johnson, Melody Barnes and Tina (Tony) Bradley of Wyoming, Penny Agrigado of Hawaiian Beaches; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Karl Hees, 71, of Hilo died Jan. 17 at home. Born in Yuma, Ariz., he was a retired Waiakea High School English teacher, alto saxophonist for Marius Stranger’s Island Swing Orchestra, member of Friends of the Palace Theater and community theater actor. Celebration of life 10 a.m.-noon today at Palace Theater. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Erlinda Hees of Hilo; daughters, Judith Lynn Hees of Beaverton, Ore., Kelly Hees of Chico, Calif., and Kimberlee LeBlanc of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; mother, Fern Wasser of Lompoc, Calif.; brothers, John Hees of Oroville, Calif., Bill Hees of Magalia, Calif., and James Mitchell of Moorpark, Calif.; sister, Judy Heywood of Kelseyville, Calif.; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Elaine T. (Uyeda) Jones, 91, of Hilo died Jan. 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was retired from PayLess and was a dressmaker and Concept Now distributor. No services. Survived by daughter, Cheryl (William) McGinnis of New Hampshire; brothers, Manabu Uyeda of Naalehu, Charles Kataru (Cindy) Uyeda of Detroit and Herbert (Dale) Uyeda of California; one grandson; several nieces and nephews.
