The East Hawaii Cultural Center is celebrating the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory’s 100th anniversary with a members’ juried exhibit art show and sale.

This month, the center’s two galleries are filled with exhibits that are rarely seen. View illustrations from the guest book of the Volcano House Hotel begun in 1865, and also other historical information provided by Oramel H. Gulick. See historical photographs of eruptions and volcanic features that are invaluable records of the past.

More than 60 art pieces were chosen in celebration of the HVO anniversary. All pertain to volcanoes. First place went to Tim Freeman, with Vivian Ursula Bratton finishing second, third-place honors to Lisa Louise Adams and honorable mention to Lonny Tomono.
