The Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles announces a six-session craft class that begins with angel-making. These sessions are designed for beginning and intermediate crafters and are open to the public. They will be conducted on Saturdays, beginning on Feb. 4, from noon to 1 p.m.

Two angels to be made in the first session are a Hello Kitty angel and a Valentine angel. There are two Japanese crafts using handmade washi paper that includes a kokeshi doll with kimono for Girls’ Day on March 3 and petal bowls.

Participants will also make a crystal bracelet with magnet closure in February, a cloth tissue holder with ribbons in March and a hula doll in the last class.

The presenter of these crafts is Hiroko Takayama, a well-known crafter who has taught crafting at Hilo Community School for Adults and for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Center for Continuing Education. She is the owner of Hand to Hand Crafts.

Future classes will include lei-making in time for graduation and other requested crafts.

Enrollment is limited to 12. There is a tuition of $24 for the six-week class and a materials charge per session.
