The Video Apprentice Program is an ongoing program of the Ka’u Concert Society, which is supported in part by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii and by the National Endowment for the Arts.

A stage has been added to the KAHU FM community radio station facility in Pahala.

The new stage and accompanying video facility will be used for broadcasting a wide variety of programming including musical performances, panel discussions, storytelling and diverse community events.

The stage is a project of the Ka’u Concert Society which worked with local carpenter Bill Ward to develop the design. The materials and labor were donated by Rick Peterson, owner of Powerlift Hydraulic Doors based in Lake Benton, Minn., who recently bought a home in Naalehu.

Live performances on the new stage will be broadcast over KAHU FM to the local community and on the Web.

Audio and video recording of live performances will be done using equipment and volunteers from the Video Apprentice Program and then broadcast on Na Leo Public Access in Hilo.
