“Nothing says I love you more than a gift made from our heart,” she said. “Please help us to help the homeless keiki.”

Coordinators of the Project Hawaii Inc. Summer Camp will hold their annual Valentine’s Day-themed fundraiser to help homeless and poverty stricken keiki on the Big Isle to attend summer camp.

“The ‘Healthy Hearts for Homeless Keiki’ campaign will help to provide these children with their athletic summer program as well as athletic shoes and clothing for them to participate in school-based sports,” said spokesman Magin Patrick. The nonprofit organization is run by volunteers and supported solely by public donations.

Volunteers will be at the Prince Kuhio Plaza during the weekend before Valentine’s Day, selling unique gifts, including red velvet cream cheese cakes in heart-shaped bowls, heart-shaped cookie bouquets complete with a Valentine bear, cookie bouquet mugs with various themes and even collector’s items.

“Gifts are one-of-a-kind and will make everyone’s Valentine special,” said Patrick. Candy gift boxes, cookies and brownies all start at $3.50.

“And for those really special Valentines in your life, we have three-foot bouquets in unique vases from $50 to $125,” she said. “Your purchase will help send a homeless child to camp, keeping them healthy and safe over their summer vacation.”

For more details on the sale, or to make a donation, please contact Patrick at 987-6018. Visit www.ProjectHawaii.org.

The benefit will start Friday, Feb. 10, and run throughout the weekend.

“Your donations allow us to provide healthy meals, and more importantly teach them how to stay active to keep their hearts healthy,” said Patrick. “Help us keep them healthy and give your special Valentine a once-in-a-lifetime original gift.
