One dead, three hurt in brawl
HONOLULU (AP) — Authorities say one man was stabbed to death, three others were seriously injured and a suspect is under arrest after a brawl at a Honolulu public housing complex.
One victim died at the hospital, another is in critical condition and two others are in serious condition.
Police Maj. William Chur says all four victims were apparently stabbed and there were probably more people involved in the Friday night melee at the Mayor Wright Homes housing complex.
Chur says officers recovered the knife they believe was used in the stabbings and the department has opened a murder case and several assault cases.
The identities of the suspect and the victims were not immediately released.
Generator is headed to Palau
HONOLULU (AP) — A 2-megawatt generator has been delivered from Hawaii to the Republic of Palau to help support a power plant that was damaged by a fire.
Hawthorne Power Systems, an authorized Caterpillar dealer in the Pacific, said Friday it delivered the generator to the Palau Public Utilities Corporation earlier this month.
Shipped from Hawaii, it is now stationed at the Aimeliik Power Plant compound. The plant was damaged by a fire in November.
The $996,000 generator joins two existing generators in Koror, which allow the public utilities commission to have one continuous grid with 14-megawatts of total capacity.
Search ends for missing kayaker
KIHEI, Maui (AP) — The Coast Guard has suspended its aerial and water search for a missing Maui kayaker.
Fifty-five-year-old Torry Durrell’s kayak was found about 200 yards off Kalepolepo Beach Park Tuesday. Coast Guard crews covered a total of 272 square miles during the search.
