Juanita Collong Mangayayam, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 14 in the Philippines. Born in the Philippines, she was a member of the Central Kona Union Church and a retired teacher. Friends may call at 7 p.m. Friday at the Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua for wake services; viewing/visitation at 6 p.m. Friends may call again at 8 a.m. Saturday at the same church; services at 9 a.m., with burial to follow at the church’s cemetery. Survived by her sons, Lemuel (Cionie) Mangayam of Kealakekua, Arthur (Iris) Mangayayam of Kailua-Kona and Baldo (Julie) Mangayayam of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Maria C. Annaguey of Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, and Avelina C. Floresca of Candon City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines; and seven grandchildren. Ruth Aiko Maeda, 84, of Hilo died Jan. 13 at her residence. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Holy Cross. Private services were held. Family requests no flowers and no koden (monetary gifts). Survived by her son, Scott Maeda of Hilo; daughters, Cris Yamabe of Kaneohe, Oahu, Kim (Glen) Ueno of Wailuku, Maui, and Else Ushijima of Hilo; sister, Masayo Nagao of Hilo; brother, Raymond Sakumoto of Honolulu; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tracy Elizabeth Turpen, 27, of Asheville, N.C., died Jan. 15 in Asheville. Born in Hilo, she was a wedding photographer. Services held. Survived by mother, Catherine Silver of Weaverville, N.C.; father, Richard Turpen of Hilo; son, Evander Elzie of Asheville; sister, Roxane Turpen of Weaverville, N.C.; grandmother, Ruth Turpen of Jackson, Miss.; and fiancé, Tyler Stout of Asheville, N.C.

Linda Corley Beech, 86, of Honolulu was born in Boston. Incorrect information appeared in Tuesday’s paper.
