Sgt. Raymond Childers recommended Foxworthy for the award because of his outstanding performance in breaking up the fight. “You never know what you’re going to come across doing this job, and he demonstrated the ability to step up and do the right thing,” Childers said.

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Kona patrol Officer Jason Foxworthy as Officer of the Month for February in a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday in Kailua-Kona.

Foxworthy was honored for risking his own safety to break up a fight.

While responding to another call Dec. 21, Officer Foxworthy encountered a fight between two men in front of Magic Sands Beach Park. One man called for help.

Foxworthy attempted to break up the fight but the alleged aggressor, Albert Manners, a 26-year-old professional mixed martial arts fighter, refused to stop. Foxworthy was kicked several times before he was able to handcuff Manners.
