Aaron Correa and Cortney Arruda combined on a six-hitter and Avery Kagawa had four hits to spark the Keaukaha Warriors to a 4-2 win over the Waiakea Pirates in Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League action Sunday at Wong Stadium.

The Keaukaha Warriors (8-1 overall) lead the second-round standings with a 3-0 record, followed by the Keaukaha Legends (5-3) at 2-1, Waiakea Pirates (4-4) at 1-2 and Corsairs (0-9) at 0-3.

League play continues at 9 a.m. Sunday with the Pirates vs. the Legends in a solo game at Wong. Then at 6 p.m. Tuesday, it’s the Warriors vs. the Corsairs.

Correa (3-1), a former UH-Hilo standout, started for the Warriors and hurled six shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks and striking out 10 in a dominating performance. Arruda pitched three innings, giving up four hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out three while recording a save.

Cody Urasaki (2-1) went the distance for the Pirates. He allowed 11 hits and four runs — two earned — walked one and struck out three in taking the loss.

Kagawa went 4 for 5 and drove in a run. Teammates Arruda (2 runs scored) and Kiley Kawazoe (1 RBI) each added two hits. Shaye Miura had two hits and an RBI to lead the Pirates.

* Keaukaha Legends 11, Corsairs 7: Kodi Medeiros had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead the hard-hitting Legends. Tyler Higa-Gonsalves (1 RBI) had two hits while lead-off batter Chad Teshima had a hit, an RBI and scored three runs.

Michael Sayaboc (two RBIs) and Nainoa Hart each had two hits for the Corsairs. Kylen Uyeda also had a hit, an RBI and scored twice.

Reyn Kihara started for the Legends and pitched 41/3 innings. He gave up five hits and four runs. Kian Kurokawa (3-0) hurled the final 42/3 innings and picked up the win. He allowed five hits and three runs while walking one and striking out four.

Pono Correa was the first of four Corsairs pitchers to take the mound. Reliever Nainoa Hart (0-1) tossed 21/3 innings and was tagged with the loss.
