$2K Scholarship made available
The Jack and Otome Miyshiro Scholarship of $2,000 is available to a high school graduate planning to attend a two- or four-year post-high school institution of higher learning in the fall. This scholarship is sponsored by the family of Otome and the late Jack Miyashiro and administered by Hui Okinawa. The Miyashiros were long-time members of Hui Okinawa and successful business people in Hilo. They founded Jack’s Tours.
Application forms are available through the counselor’s offices at public high schools. Forms are available from Nancy Nakaishi (961-4677), Alben Namihira (961-3443) or Margaret Torigoe (895-0994). Call one of the three if more information is needed.
Deadline for applications is March 31.
Parker preview set for Wed.
Parker School’s sixth- and ninth-grade preview night will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday.
The public is invited to find out what a typical day in these two grades is like at Parker School.

Isle students on honor roll
Five Big Isle students recently were named to the honor roll at Oregon State University. They are Marisa A. Mc Cann, a Waimea freshman studying nutrition; Kameron K. Kadooka, senior, Kealakekua, fisheries and wildlife science; Keiko C. Bostwick, junior, psychology, Mountain View; Michaela N. Cadabona, senior, Ninole, animal sciences, and Kai M. Jenkins-Rathbun, sophomore, Pahoa, pre-electrical and computer engineering.
Monsanto offers 10 scholarships
Applications are now being accepted for Monsanto Hawaii’s two scholarship programs — the Monsanto Hawaii Life Sciences Scholarship and the Monsanto Hawaii Agricultural Scholarship.
High school seniors interested in pursuing a science degree are invited to apply for the Monsanto Hawaii Life Sciences Scholarship. A total of 10 scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded in 2012.
