Noel Eric Martin Sr., 53, of Ahualoa died Jan. 15 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honokaa, he was a graduate of Honokaa High and Intermediate School. He had worked as a truck driver for Hamakua Sugar Co., Isemoto Construction, Mihara Transfer and Pacific Waste; a mechanic for Blue Hawaii Helicopters; and a cowboy at Nobriga Ranch. Service to be held at New Hope Waimea on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. Private scattering of ashes at a later date. Hannah Hasuyo Makainai Like, 94, of Papaikou died Feb. 4. at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honomu, she was a retired papaya packer with the former Mr. Papaya Co.
