Valentine’s Day support group

Rising Through Grief, a local grief recovery organization, will present a special support group on Valentine’s Day at Church of the Holy Cross in Hilo starting at 5:30 p.m.

“Valentine’s Day is traditionally a very tough day for those who have lost their spouse or partners,” said Benson Medina, cofounder of Rising Through Grief and a widower himself.

The facilitator-directed support group will help participants learn coping strategies and develop new perspectives that may help in resolving grief and creating a more positive outlook for the future.

Medina and his sister, Lani Medina Weigert, co-owner of Maui’s Alii Kula Lavender Farm, both lost their significant others which prompted them to open Rising Through Grief to help others cope with catastrophic loss and grief of any kind.

Contact Medina at benson@rtgrief.com or by phone at 286-6559. More information on their support groups and programs can be found on their website: www.risingthroughgrief.com.
