Roller Derby tourney
is Sunday in Hilo
Fast Girl University presents “Leid on the Track,” a roller derby tournament featuring skaters from around the world, at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium in Hilo.
This event will feature Hawaii’s own Paradise Roller Girls from Hilo and Kona and their sister team in Kona, the Tsunami Slammers, as well as athletes from Washington State, Alaska, California, Germany, Sweden and Canada.
The tournament will be the culmination of a three-day training camp led by coaches Sarah “Wile E. Peyote” O’Donoghue of the Rat City Roller Girls in Seattle, Lacy “Carmen Getsome” Evans of the Rat City Roller Girls, Sarah “Jewanna Brawl” Erlanger, and referee Andy “Sir Osis” Lewis-Lechner of the Rat City Roller Girls and the Oly Rollers of Olympia, Wash.
Tickets are $5 for the tournment and a portion of the proceeds help benefit the Paradise Roller Girls all-star team, the “Honey Badgers.” The Paradise Roller Girls are currently raising funds to send their team to the Wild West Showdown, a national tournament, in Kitsap County, Wash., on March 2-4.

Hilo Little League
registration/tryouts
Hilo Little League will conduct tryouts and accept registration for the upcoming Minors and Majors season on Sunday at Ainako Park and Feb. 19 at Keaukaha Park.
On both days, Minors (ages 9-10) registration will start at 8 a.m. with tryouts to follow, and Majors (11-12) sign-ups will start at 11 a.m., followed by a tryout.
Players should come prepared with cleats and baseball equipment.

Panaewa Alii flag
football registration
Panaewa Alii football is taking registration for flag football.
There are no weight restrictions and ages are determined as of Feb. 28.
The fee is $65 — $50 if received by March 2 — and a 2012 physical, birth certificate, second-quarter report card, copy of medical card, participant contract, parental consent forms, county release and a wallet-size photo are required.
Panaewa Alii is also looking for a cheer coordinator, cheer coaches, assistant flag football coaches, and board positions are available.
