Expo seeks photographs
Brooks Jensen has been selected to judge the 13th annual Hawaii Photo Expo, the popular showcase for Big Island photographers. Brooks is the publisher of LensWork, one of the premier photography publications. He is also the developer of www.lensworkonline.com, pioneering a variety of online educational tools directed toward avid photographers.
Local photographers are invited to submit images for consideration in one of three categories: Master, Enthusiast or Beginner. The Photo Expo is now accepting digital submissions either emailed or on CD by mail.
Submission deadlines are: postmarked by March 17 or emailed by March 22.
The judge will select from the digital submissions those images that will be accepted for display at Wailoa Center Gallery in Hilo on June 8-28.

Walmart program offers grants
The Walmart Foundation’s Hawaii State Giving Program is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations across the state.
Interested organizations may apply online at www.walmartfoundation.org.
The minimum award for each grant is $25,000. The application deadline for the first round of 2012 grants is March 2.
The Walmart Foundation is focused on funding much-needed community programs, especially those that address hunger, homelessness, education, job training and other basic needs.
Organizations must currently operate under the tax-exempt status Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
