Thanks Longs, HTH

About two weeks ago at Longs Drugs, Prince Kuhio, my coin purse was found in the greeting cards aisle where I must have dropped it.

When I returned home, my call to the Longs store to inquire about my missing purse was answered right away to inform me that it was found and could be picked up. …

Unfortunately, the name of the kind person who found and turned it in was not available. My heartfelt thank you for your honesty, kindness and response to your own heart.

May this year 2012, the Year of the Dragon, be one of much happiness, good health and peace and a safe one with blessings you so deserve.

Thank you, Longs Drugs, for always doing your best for all of us. And thank you, Hawaii Tribune-Herald, for keeping us informed and getting information out to us.

Much aloha and appreciation.

Heard of cholera?

Next time you and your family go to Kalapana, please take a tour of Black Sands Subdivision. Drive around the rutted roads and look at all the shacks and shanties. Feast your eyes on the piles of rusting cars where mangy strays lurk. Listen to the ravings of the tortured wretches as they writhe in their drug psychoses.

Here, gangs of scruffy children hang around in the streets as swarms of flies circulate between kitchen and latrine. Say a prayer for those who’ve invested their life savings to build there, those who are taxed without representation and targeted for reprisal if they dare speak out.

Campaign season

Well folks, here it is: campaign season. The incumbents are spending their time conducting fundraisers to get re-elected and crowing about what they did, but really did not do. The challengers are running around ignoring their jobs, if they have one, to raise money for advertising to get elected and making promises to do this, that and the other.

The County Council hopefuls are saying they will do this and that for their district. I thought they are County Council people representing a district, not district people.

The state legislators are saying that they will do this and that for their portion of the state. Aren’t they supposed to be state reps and senators state district reps?

The U.S. representantives and senator candidates are saying they will do this, that and the other thing for Hawaii. Are they not U.S. reps and senators representing the State of Hawaii in office to govern the nation?
