Hawaii Community College has partnered with Windward Community College to offer Recreational Thrill Craft and Ocean Safety Educational Courses from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18, at the HawCC Manono campus. Personal watercraft operators are required to complete a certification class offered by an accredited institution of higher education on the safe use and operation of a thrill craft.

All who participate in the sport of tow-in surfing in Hawaii must successfully complete this course.

Participants learn the legal and regulatory requirements for persons who partake in the sport of tow-in surfing; risk management principles; local ocean safety principles and practices; rules and laws pertaining to protected species in ocean waters; boating skills as they apply to the sport of tow-in surfing; and the historical, cultural, and customary practices of Hawaii’s ocean users.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a corresponding license.
