Clyde “Tamo” H. Muranaka, 54, of Hilo died Sunday, Jan. 29, at his residence. Born in Honokaa, he was a driver for Air Freight Specialist and Pacific Floral Exchange, a former member of the Hawaii Army National Guard and previously employed by State Highways in Honokaa, Coastline Express, Herb’s Diner, Ando Store and Ken’s Service Station. He also worshipped at Glad Tidings Church in Hilo. Friends may call Friday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; Visitation from 9-11 a.m.; Funeral service at 11 a.m., with private cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary Crematory. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Anna Amalato Muranaka of Honokaa; daughters, Leandrea (Ricky Ferreira Jr.) Muranaka, Joannalyn Muranaka and Tashina Muranaka, all from Honokaa; son, Braxston Muranaka of Honokaa; one granddaughter, Cailyn Ferreira of Honokaa; father, Tamotsu (Barbara Mitts) Muranaka of Keaau; brothers, Lloyd (Bea) Muranaka of South Carolina, Paul (Janice “Midori”) Muranaka and Adrian “Eddie Boy” Medallia Jr. of Hilo; sisters, Leelynn “Ka’imi” (Paul) Lagat of Keaau, Tammy Muranaka of Waimea, Kellcia (Tim Machado) and Tracey Yamane of Hilo, Colleen (Larry) Correia of Kalopa; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Benjamin Gerardo Joaquin Sr., 91, of Honokaa died Feb. 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Gabu, Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired bulldozer operator for the former Davies Hamakua and former shuttle bus driver for the Hilton Waikoloa. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honokaa Ward, and a member of the Honokaa Filipino Club. Visitation from 9-11 a.m. Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honokaa; Funeral Service at 11 a.m.; burial to follow at Alae Cemetery, Mormon Section. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Teresita (Florencio) Ramos of Waimea, Dalles Turbeville of Las Vegas, Nev., and Donna (Bert) Kotaki of Hilo; sons, Benjamin (Beverly) Joaquin Jr. of Laupahoehoe, Brocky (Puanani Race-Joaquin) Joaquin of Honokaa, Lance (Tami) Joaquin of Kawaihae and Clayton (Jan) Joaquin of Hilo; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
