Puna’s Malamalama Waldorf School received a grant from Envision Media to support the school’s arts education program. The $708 grant will be used to bring in Big Island artist Patricia Leo to work with the students.

Leo’s paintings have been described as innovative, original and enchanting.

“It’s really a great opportunity for the students to explore the reaches of their imaginations with such a great artist. We’re really grateful to Envision Media,” said board Vice President Kim Arakawa. “Research continually shows that arts education is linked to almost everything that we say we want for our children, academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement and equitable opportunity.”
