Hillary Hurley bounced off the bench and produced a double-double, scoring 14 points and collecting 11 rebounds, to spark the University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s basketball team to its third straight win.

Jameia McDuffie, Kirsten Shimizu and Shannon Rousseau each added nine points in UHH’s 60-49 victory over Notre Dame de Namur in a Pacific West Conference game Tueday at Belmont, Calif., at famed Walter Gleason Gym.

The Vulcans (11-11, 8-6 PacWest) led 34-33 at halftime, before hitting the Argonauts (6-18, 4-12) over the head with a defensive hammer, holding the host team to just 20 percent (4 of 20) shooting.

Natellie Saia scored 14 points to lead NDNU, which committed 18 turnovers to UHH’s 11.

Men

NDNU 59, UHH 66: The Vulcans had a sluggish start and trailed 40-21 at halftime, eventually losing their second in a row and ninth out of their last 10 games.

Terrell Mack scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting while Kiel Myers added 10 points, but made just 3 of 11 shots to lead the Vulcans (8-14, 2-12).

Tyler Fricke scored 22 points and Arron Mollett scored 16 to lead the Agronauts (10-14, 6-1).

Golf

UHH finished third at the Lady Rattler Roundup hosted by St. Mary’s University in San Antonio

St. Edward’s won the tournament with a two-round 618. Traleton State was next at 623 followed by UHH (641).

“They are the two best teams here other than us,” said UHH coach Jim DeMello. “If you look at the 18th hole, you’d see every girl three-putted.”

Kristen Sawada (78-81) and Kacie Harada (79-80) were tied for ninth place to pace the Vulcans at 159. Erika Morihiro was in 11th place at 160 (81-79) while Nyssa Aoki was tied for 14th place at 163 (80-83). Dayna Bersaminn completed the squad tied for 20th place at 165 (81-84).
