Hunting to be topic of meeting
The Mauna Kea Recreational Users Group is hosting a citizens legislative evening, “The People’s Hearing: Hunting,” from 5-7:30 p.m. today at Nani Mau Gardens, 421 Makalika St.
The meeting is open to all interested in hunting or public access rights on public lands.
MKRUG, formed in 2009, is a grassroots clearinghouse for protecting and promoting public lands access on Hawaii Island. Its members are organizations that represent hunters, fishermen, off road vehicles, mountain bikers, hikers, paddlers, surfers and others.
According to MKRUG president Wayne Blyth, “We are hosting the ‘People’s Hearing’ as a means of insuring that the people’s voice is heard by our Big Island legislators who will be considering very powerful bills affecting management of our public lands.”
Invited guests include Big Island legislators.
MKRUG works to promote the right of access to and responsible use of public lands and helps identify potential conflicts and common interests for users of public lands.

HPP board seeks director nominees
The Hawaiian Paradise Park Board is seeking nominations for director candidates. Three three-year terms on the nine-member Board of Directors will expire at the end of June and new directors will be elected for Districts 2, 3, and 4.
Candidates must be owners of record of a lot, must run in the district where the lot is located, have paid road maintenance fees in full, be able to attend regular and special meeting of the Board of Directors and Association Membership and attend to committee assignments. Directors serve without compensation.
To run for office, contact the Association Office to receive a candidate Form to be submitted back to the office no later March 16.
The form is also available on the association website at http://www.hppoa.com. Applicants are responsible for ensuring their applications are received before close of business on March 16.
