The state Department of Transportation is seeking the public’s input for a variety of projects at a meeting tonight in Hilo.
The department is in the process of updating the Regional Long-Range Land Transportation Plans for each of the neighbor islands. These plans define land transportation goals and needs and have not been updated since the late 1990s. Comments are welcome on proposed upgrades to the Keaau-Pahoa Road, the Hawaii Belt Road, the Saddle Road and other highways across the island.
Input from the public will also be used to update the Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan, which will guide land transportation policy and programs through the year 2035.
