Oahu Republican Sam Slom was the only “no” vote in the hearing Thursday at the state Capitol in Honolulu, with four ayes coming from committee chairman Clayton Hee, plus Sens. Maile Shimabukuro, Mike Gabbard and Les Ihara, all Oahu Democrats.
The bill now goes to the full Senate for the third and final reading. If approved by the chamber, it would be sent to the state House for consideration.
