Kenneth “Ken” Kikuo Kadooka, 68, of Honaunau died Feb. 10 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired fire equipment operator for the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation – Keahole International Airport Crash Fire Rescue, a mechanic for the former Aloha Airlines, member of Honaunau Kumiai No. 3 and Kona Hongwanji Mission Kealakekua. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. Visitation at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at Kona Hongwanji Mission. Service at 4 p.m. No flowers. Survived by wife, Jean Kadooka of Honaunau; son, Scott (Keala) Kadooka of Waimea; daughters, Kimberly (Eric) Kunitomo of Kealakekua, Joy (Travis) Hamada of Mililani; brother, Ray (Harriet) Kadooka of Pearl City; seven grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephew. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii.

Hilarion Palacol, 96, of Papaikou died Monday, March 5, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in San Ildelfonso, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired tractor operator for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Company. He was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou and a member of the Papaikou Filipino Catholic Club. Visitation from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Papaikou; Funeral Mass at 2:30 p.m.; Burial to follow at Mauna Kea Memorial Park. Casual attire. No flowers. Survived by sons, Edmundo (Christine) Palacol of Papaikou and Renato (Edna) Palacol of Papaikou; daughters-in-law, Dr. Erlinda Palacol of California and Gloria Palacol of Papaikou; hanai daughter, Delores Hagland of California; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ralph “Lelo” Rodrigues, 90, of Pahoa died Feb. 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Hilo Coast Processing Company and a member of Kohala Puerto Rican Social Club and an avid hunter. Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo; Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima Section. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Lillian M. Rodrigues of Pahoa; daughters, Orlana (Cyrus) Long of Washington, Brenda Nunez of Pahoa, Barbara (Donald) Stremski of Hilo; sons, Ray (Barbara) Filkins of Papaikou, Dennis (Linda) Eblacas of Keaau; sisters, Hattie Rodrigues of Hilo, Lillian (James) Roark of Arizona; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
