Mildred “Millie” Namiko De Mattos, 67, of Hilo died March 9 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and a former licensed practical nurse at the former Hilo Hospital, and a member of the Kaumana Kumiai. Amelia Faye Leonillo, 58, of Hilo died March 10 at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Lanai City, Lanai. Private services in Lanai City. Raylene “Tutu” “Kumu” Haalelea Kawaiaea, 61, of Kapaau died March 9 at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a building facilitator for Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center. She was a preserver of the Hawaiian culture. She was the founder of Na Huapala O Hawaii Halau O Haalelea Hula Halau and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. William Alexander Waters Jr., 89, of Hilo died Feb. 24 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was the district superintendant of Kauai schools, Windward Oahu, then Big Island schools, then state superintendent of the Department of Education. After retiring, he was elected as a board member to the state Board of Education. Private family services were held. No flowers; no koden. Survived by wife, Lillian K.
