Pawela Kaaua, 85, of Pepeekeo died March 13 at a private care home. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired truck driver with the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and a member of the Honomu Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Private services. Helen Shizue Shimabukuro, 98, of Hilo died March 18 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Paia, Maui, she was retired from the former Hilo Grill and a member of Hui Okinawa. Private services.
