Tomiko Coito’s single in the sixth inning drove in Casey Utemei with the winning run, and Kohala escaped with a 6-5 win over Kealakehe.
The Cowgirls trailed 5-1 after three innings at Kamehameha Park on Saturday, but they rallied behind the bat of senior Jovi Antonio. Antonio cleared the bases in the fourth inning to trim the lead to 5-4, and Ashlyn van Zandt singled home Antonio with the tying run.
Division II Kohala improved to 3-2 in Big Island Interscholastic Federation play, and the Division I Waveriders fell to 3-2. Tiani Luga had a solo home run in the first inning for the Cowgirls, and was the only player with multiple hits. She also had a single.
Chyler Imai picked up the win, allowing only three hits and three walks over seven innings. She struck out seven.
Kealakehe’s Kelina Palmer-Kahananui suffered the loss. She gave up seven hits and three walks over six innings and struck out five. She also had a triple in the Waveriders’ four-run second inning. No one paired hits for Kealakehe, but Brooke Rivera had an RBI single.

Honokaa 26, Hawaii Prep 18: Hailey Paglinawan went 4-for-6 with two doubles and six RBIs as Honokaa topped Hawaii Prep in Waimea.
Chasity Nickel went 3-for-6 for the Dragons (2-3).
For Hawaii Prep (2-3), Stacie Doi went 3-for-3 with two doubles seven RBIs, Chancis Fernandez went 2-for-4 and Tiana Bertelman-Tabac went 2-for-3.

Three games involving East Hawaii teams were postponed by rain.
