The Keaau Youth Business Center will launch a new round of after-school training classes in April. Starting Monday, April 2, vocal artist and sound engineer Damon Williams will run a seven-week Sound Recording/Music Production class from 3-5 p.m. Learn the art of music production and pop, island, hip-hop, rock and alternative music-making in KYBC’s professional studio. Topics such as recording, editing, mixing and mastering will be covered.

The course fee is $40 per student. Also starting on Monday, Chef Jon Aynessazian will teach a Ohana Culinary Arts class from 4-6 p.m. High school students interested in the culinary arts are invited to bring their moms, dads, aunties, uncles, or tutus and “learn to cook with your ohana.” “A team of two can sign up for this eight-week class for $50.
On Wednesday, April 4, Story in Pictures: Creating the Graphic Novel gets under way from 3 to 5 p.m. with illustrator and author Diane Thornton. Learn how to create your own mini graphic novel. No prior drawing experience is required. Learn drawing basics, language of comics, story sequence, composition, character development and much more. The fee for this eight-week class is $40 per student.
