Coordinators of the ‘Oiwi Film Festival 2012 have issued a call for films in various genres directed by Native Hawaiians. This year’s event will be Nov. 10-18 on Oahu at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
Coordinators of the ‘Oiwi Film Festival 2012 have issued a call for films in various genres directed by Native Hawaiians. This year’s event will be Nov. 10-18 on Oahu at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
Entries will be accepted from: April 2 through June 22. Filmmakers will be notified of the judges’ decision by July 2.
Subject matter should be related to Hawaiian arts, culture, life style, history and politics, including documentaries, feature films and shorts, said spokeswoman Ann Marie Kirk.
The mission statement for the festival is: To highlight films by indigenous Hawaiian filmmakers to show Hawaii through their own eyes and in their own voices.
All running times will be accepted.
Each entry package needs to include the following:
l A typewritten sheet that has your name, contact info, film title and brief synopsis of your film and film running time; and year produced
l A DVD preview copy labeled with title, duration and your name and contact info, and
l A press kit with two high-resolution images and a high-resolution preview/trailer of your film that runs no longer than one minute.
DVD submissions will not be returned.
