Approximately 200 students from public and private high schools in Hawaii will be participating in the 2012 Island Insurance Companies Economics Challenge, designed to showcase outstanding high school economics students and economics courses in Hawaii. High school teams will compete in two divisions for the title of Hawaii’s Economics Challenge State Champion.
Participating schools this year include Iolani, the national champion for five of the past seven years, along with Maryknoll, Hawaii Baptist Academy, Kamehameha, Mililani, Hilo, Roosevelt and Kalani high schools.
The event will be from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Campus Center Ballroom at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Student teams will compete for a chance to win prizes and a trip to New York to compete in the national competition on May 20.
