About to 75 percent of fruits and vegetables are pollinated by bees, and the Big Island is facing a crisis.
A “Bee a Buddy” talk will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at the University of Hawaii at Hilo room 100 UCB. This free event will feature a movie and talk-story presented by Global Hope.
The film “Vanishing of the Bees” details the problems facing bees and some of the remedies being used. A preview of the trailer for “Temple for the Divine Honeybee” with Alison Yahna, who represents a new direction in relationship with bees, will also be shown.
Meet local beekeepers to learn about this challenge and the solutions.
Lauren Rusert, apiary technician with the State Apiary program, will talk story and provide handouts.
