Each Tuesday at 10 a.m., from April 3 to May 8, Hospice of Hilo will sponsor The Healing Journey, a six-week adult grief support group that helps participants take the first steps toward healing. In a safe and confidential setting, each session will offer group support, education, and beneficial coping tools. “To be alive is to experience loss, and as a result of these losses we grieve. The journey of grief is hard work and is often eased by the support of others,” said Community Bereavement Counselor Cathy Hough. “Participants are comforted by the validation of their grief and the knowledge that they are not alone.

“To light memorial candles for their loved ones, write in journals and to learn about the ways that grief shows up empowers them to take charge and navigate their personal journey of loss.”
The Healing Journey, offered at no cost to participants, is available to anyone who has lost a loved one, and is held at 1011 Waianuenue Ave. Contact Hospice of Hilo at 969-1733 for more information or to register.
