Everyone is invited to the Waimea Outdoor Circle Spring Plant Sale and Earth Day Celebration from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the park — aka Ulu La‘au, or a garden of trees.
Waimea Nature Park is located directly behind the Canada France Hawaii Telescope offices off Mamalahoa Highway, across from Waimea Elementary School.
“Select local plant vendors will have a wide variety of plants for sale, along with Waimea Outdoor Circle’s own homegrown selection,” said Arlene Block, secretary of the Waimea Nature Park Advisory Committee. There will be a few local vendors selling their arts and crafts as well as homemade baked goods, demonstrations, a Master Gardener to answer plant questions and more.
“Back by popular demand will be a free Zumba class at 9:15 a.m. If you haven’t found fitness in Zumba yet, join the party and give it a try,” said Block.
At 10 a.m., learn about composting with Ann Hassler at her Recycle Hawaii Compost and Vermiculture Workshop. Sandwiches and salads from Redwater Cafe will be for sale and free plants will be given away, one per family.
“There is plenty of parking available and something for everyone, so come by and enjoy a great morning in the nature park,” said Block. For more information, visit waimeaoutdoorcircle.org.
