Island Faith Center invites the public to a special Easter celebration at the Papaaloa Gym on Sunday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m. To reach the gym, turn makai at the 24-mile marker on the Hamakua Coast.

Along with the Easter message entitled “What A Redeemer,” there will be special music and a multimedia presentation in celebration of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer. An Easter gift will be given to each one who attends.

After the service, enjoy a potluck lunch and an Easter egg hunt for the keiki.

“It was four years ago on Easter that Island Faith Center opened its doors for its very first public worship service,” said Pastor Mary Jo Stevenson Fullen.

The church is a branch of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Hilo, and part of the Foursquare denomination, which was started in Los Angeles in 1923 by Aimee Semple McPherson.

The name ‘Foursquare’ represents the four-fold ministry of Jesus Christ as savior, baptizer with the Holy Spirit, healer and coming king.

“Our vision is to be a place where people can find an intimate relationship with God through passionate preaching of his word, extravagant worship, loving fellowship and prayer,” said Stevenson Fullen.

“The congregation encourages everyone to bring the whole family and join in the Easter anniversary celebration,” she said.
