The Rev. Heather Mueller, the newly appointed priest in charge of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, will offer a two-part lecture series based on her work in Israel at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, April 16 and 23, at the North Kohala Public Library.

The Rev. Heather Mueller, the newly appointed priest in charge of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, will offer a two-part lecture series based on her work in Israel at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, April 16 and 23, at the North Kohala Public Library.

The first session, titled “The People and The Three Faiths of the Holy Land‚” will include a slide presentation on the places of worship of Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Mueller will share information about the festivals of all three. Hardly a day goes by in the Holy Land without a celebration or commemoration from one of these religious traditions, she says.

The second session, titled “The Holy Land: the Political Situation‚” will give a firsthand view of the history and political situation facing Jerusalem.

“Rev. Mueller will give an overview of this very complex situation as she shares her understanding of the current manifestation of many years of struggle and conflict.

She will include some very powerful photos of what is happening in Jerusalem now,” said Librarian Janet Lam.

Prior to coming to Kohala, Mueller spent a year working as the minister of hospitality at St. George’s College in East Jerusalem.

She assisted students from all over the world who enrolled in two-week courses and pilgrimages to various sites relating to Jesus, Moses, Abraham and other biblical characters.

All are welcome. Contact the library at 889-6655 for additional information or if special accommodation is required. The sessions are free to the public.
