Where are we going, and what can we do about it? These two questions are at the heart of a free symposium from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in Campus Center 301-302 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Where are we going, and what can we do about it? These two questions are at the heart of a free symposium from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in Campus Center 301-302 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

The public is invited to this Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium co-sponsored by the Pacthamama Alliance and the UHH Diversity Committee. No preregistration is required, but organizers ask people to please arrive and sign in by 11:30 a.m.

“The symposium provides a profound inquiry on ways to manifest a bold vision: to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on the Earth,” said spokeswoman Catherine Becker, associate professor of communication.

“A series of multimedia presentations on the current state of our Earth by some of the world’s foremost thinkers, scientists and leaders will be followed by facilitated group activities and discussions,” said Becker. “The event will provide a forum for participants to explore implications locally, as well as globally.”

This week’s session will be followed by a second on Wednesday, April 25, called Getting into Action, where groups with specific areas of interest can engage in dialogue with participants and other groups to create new alliances and opportunities. Visit www.awakeningthedreamer.org.
