Maleko Remlinger pitched four scoreless innings and helped ignite his team at the plate Monday as Keaau beat Pahoa 6-3 in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation baseball game played on the Cougars’ field.
Remlinger, first baseman Konnor Kanetani and catcher Rason Martines were all 2 for 4 and had big hands in helping Keaau improve to 5-6. With the Cougars clinging to a 1-0 lead, Remlinger led off the fourth with a double and scored when Kanetani reached on an error. Kanetani scored on Martines’ second double of the game to make it 3-0.
Remlinger allowed just one hit and two walks with three strikeouts to pick up the win. Four Keaau pitchers allowed only two hits to the Daggers (0-11), but they combined to walk nine batters.
Pahoa committed four errors as Keaau tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Martines and Kanetani collected RBI singles.
Leka Tua pitched a complete game but took the loss for the Daggers (0-11), allowing eight hits and only one earned run with three walks and two strikeouts.
Keaau pitchers walked five batters — three by Kanetani — as Pahoa scored three times in the seventh. Third baseman Cassidy Dixon had a one-out RBI off Cody Silva to cut the lead to 6-3, but Silva recovered to get Kayden Cox-Pacheco to ground into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded. Shortstop Julian Agnese had Pahoa’s other hit.
Martines gave Keaau a 1-0 lead in the first by doubling home Jonathan Segovia, who had walked to lead off the game.
Kanetani worked an inning and was charged with three runs, while Silva struck out a batter with two walks in his inning of work.
Adrian Huff pitched the fifth for Keaau, yielding two walks with a strikeout.

Kamehameha 11, Ka’u 0: Keanu Dudoit-Isa was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, and Kupono Decker pitched three scoreless innings as the host Warriors improved to 7-4.
Dudoit-Isa, Decker, Chay Toson, Matthew Chun and Pomai Racpan all had hits as Kamehameha took advantage of two errors to score nine runs in the third.
Chance Emmsley took the loss of the Trojans (2-9), allowing 10 runs — three earned — six hits, four walks and strikeout in 2 1/3 innings.
Decker allowed a hit to Daellan Kai and two walks with four strikeouts. Jaston Eleneki (three walks, one strikeout) and Chay Toson (one walk, one strikeout) followed with hitless innings.
Kai struck out a batter in 1 2/3 innings of relief. He allowed a run and two hits with a strikeout.
