Parker School debaters Emilie Skladzien, at left, Jesse Tarnas, Tyler Saito, Evan Kasberg and Alex Guske pose for a photo just before the District IV Big Island Qualifying Debate Tournament, which Parker hosted March 5. Students from Christian Liberty Academy and Kealakehe High School also participated. Eleven students qualified to compete at the Hawaii State Debate Tournament on Oahu. The three-day competition gets under way on Thursday. Representing the Big Island will be Kaylee Deponte of Kealakehe and Parker’s Victoria Andrade-McKeehan, Maia Tarnas, Nohili Thompson, Keala Prietto, Charlie Charbonneau, Gian DiAntonio, Evan Kasberg, Anastasiya Polishchuk, Kieran Najita and Tyler McCullough.
