Born in Mokuleia, Waialua, Oahu, he was a retired construction worker, veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the Laborers International Union of North America, Local 368. Friends may call at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou on Friday from 9-10:30 a.m., where a Mass will be held at 11 a.m., followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2. Dr. Brent Sherman Gallagher, 72, of Honohina died at the Hilo Medical Center on Friday, April 6. Born in Massachusetts he was a retired professor of oceanography at the University of Hawaii (Manoa and Hilo). Toshiko Muranaka, 89, of Keaau died March 17 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Keaukaha, she was a retired cook employed by the former Sheraton Hotel in Hilo.
