Parker School students earned top prizes across the board at the Waimea Arts Council’s 28th annual Na ‘Opio Juried Youth Art Show, which ran throughout the month of March. Awards were presented Saturday, March 10, at a reception in the council’s Firehouse Gallery at the main intersection in Waimea.
The first-, second- and third-place prizes in grades 9, 10 and 11, and first and second place in grade 12 all went to Parker School students. Parker seventh-graders took second and third place and an honorable mention.
Grade 7 awards went to Julia Lee (second place), Taylor Doherty (third place) and Zoe Mercer, who received an honorable mention. Grade 9 winners were Maia Tarnas (first place), Kosuke Kume (second place) and Keanu Mead (third place). Grade 10 winners were Keoni Beaton (first place and the Juror’s Choice Award for Most Promising Artist), Emily Whitfield (second place) and Grant Nair (third place). Grade 11 winners were Nondi Lampkin (first place), Mariko Langevin (second place) and Rachel Dunn (third place). Grade 12 winners were Gian DiAntonio (first place) and Erika Hannon (second place).
